I would imagine many (or most) young entrepreneurs say they want a high growth business because it’s what they think they’re “supposed to” say. That was the case for me. Saying I’m shooting for high growth sounds more aggressive and confident, etc. But, to Bobby and Zak’s point, inexperienced entrepreneurs may not fully understand what goes into creating each style of business, or what it will be like even if they succeed. Shooting for a high growth business may not be the right strategy for certain kinds of businesses, and trying to force it will only cause you to get of course. I completely agree…shoot for making a great company that provides a great service or product at a great value and serves it’s owner and employees well, and be okay with some things about the business revealing themselves to you in due time.
